The seamless tube is a tube which doesn’t have any welding seam. The seamless tubes are the solid metal tube with each end connected to another tube without having any welding joint. The seamless tubes are also known as a seamless pipe. The seamless tubes are made up of several alloys and metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, molybdenum or tungsten etc. In cases where welding isn’t used, seamless stainless steel tubing can be manufactured using extrusion, piercing, or gun drilling.
The seamless tube is extruded and drawn from a billet while the welded tube is produced from a strip that is roll formed and welded to produce a tube. Seamless tubes are used in those industrial applications that mandate the highest safety requirements. In order to produce a seamless tube, a solid block is penetrated by a piercing plug before the tube is drawn to its desired size. Since a seamless tube offers a higher range of safety measures it is more expensive than a welded tube. It is relatively short in length. It generally doesn’t show any sign of corrosion until and unless it is subjected to a highly corrosive environment.
The copper tube used for air conditioning and refrigeration applications in the field (sometimes called “refer” or “ACR” tube) is an almost pure copper material meeting the requirements of ASTM B 280 – Standard Specification for Seamless Copper Tube for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Field Service. Duplex Seamless Pipe, which is known for their durability and corrosion resistance. Duplex stainless steels are resistant to the cracking caused by chloride stress corrosion in austenitic grades and have improved resistance to localized corrosion. This family of stainless steels has roughly twice the yield strength of their counterpart austenitic grades which means we can use it to design thinner gauge tubing. Higher hardness values provide better wear resistance for high precision tubes.
Nickel-based alloys are very useful for the manufacture of high-quality tubing products. One of the key reasons is that they offer excellent corrosion resistance in both aqueous and high-temperature applications. Nickel alloys are excellent for heat exchangers in the chemical processing and nuclear industries. They’re used in steam generator tubing in the nuclear power industry, in high-temperature aircraft systems, and in oil and gas extraction programs where corrosion-, pressure- and temperature-resistant tubing is required. Their corrosion resistance also makes them useful in desalination equipment.
An alloy of nickel-copper, roughly 67% nickel, it is known for its resistance to seawater corrosion, acids, and other corrosive media. Monel 400 tubing is corrosion resistant, which allows it to excel in marine applications: piping systems, pump shafts, seawater valves, etc.
Monel Tubing is extraordinarily resistant to rapidly flowing seawater, with pitting and cracking typically only occurring in a marine environment if the saltwater is stagnant. This characteristic, combined with its ability to prevent biofouling and microbial induced corrosion, makes it a durable, cost-effective alloy to use in applications that need wave protection. Monel Seamless Tubing has a copper alloy which gives it a high strength and excellent corrosion resistance in a range of media including sea water, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, and alkalies. These Monel Exhaust Tubing are nickel-based and exhibit traits that include high resistance to atmospheric corrosion, salt water, and various acid and alkaline solutions.
